Episode notes
Fresh off a dramatic Bristol victory, Sheldon Creed joins Dave Stall and Brittany Sandoval to explain how a late-race tire strategy helped put the No. 00 in Victory Lane. Creed talks about working with his crew to prepare for different race scenarios, keeping championship pressure in perspective, and why Bristol and Las Vegas remain two of the toughest and most exciting tracks on his schedule.
The winning continues with young Chance Wade, who follows up his recent Racer Radio appearance with another victory—this time at Mojave in his 2003 Chevy Cavalier Sport Compact. Chance explains how he worked his way from seventh to the lead, found a fast line nobody else was using, and eventually passed his own engine builder for the win. The show then heads to Perris Auto Speedway, where Lane Hoffarth—the self-described “Master of Disaster”—prepares multiple cars for another Night of Destruction while encouraging more young people to get involved in grassroots motorsports.
The second hour introduces Valkyrie Racing, a grassroots sponsorship effort created by longtime motorsports enthusiast Robert Burke-Stresser to help more women compete in racing. What began with Robert responding to racer Danielle Friel’s request for sponsorship grew into support for additional female racers, including Paige Mull, with plans to help even more competitors. Danielle, now 19 and racing the purple No. 07 Pony Stock, talks about her season while Robert explains why helping racers with tires, fuel, parts, and other expenses can make a meaningful difference in keeping them on track.
From a NASCAR winner at Bristol to young racers developing their skills on local dirt tracks, Episode 89 is all about the people who keep motorsports alive—drivers, families, sponsors, promoters, and volunteers. Listen to the full episode for racing stories from the national level all the way down to the grassroots competitors chasing their next checkered flag.
