This episode charts Wayne's profound journey from a sheltered childhood in Upstate New York to the horrors of the Vietnam War, highlighting the indelible mark it left on him and his family. Upon his return, the story unfolds the complexities of his demons, including an affair that leads to an abortion, and his eventual abandonment of his new family due to untreated PTSD. Years later, his brief reappearance offers his stepson, Patrick, a confession of past betrayals and the unaddressed traumas that ultimately lead Wayne to self-imposed isolation. At the same time, Patrick finds a path to healing and understanding.
