Episode notes
Mortal Kombat II surprised me...
After the 2021 reboot divided fans with its major changes to the lore, characters, and tournament structure, Mortal Kombat II feels like a direct response to the criticism from the hardcore fanbase.
The sequel delivers more of what the fans actually wanted:
- Focusing on characters from the video game (NOT Cole Young)
- A stronger Mortal Kombat atmosphere
- And YES... Johnny Cage finally enters the franchise.
In this review, I break down what Mortal Kombat II fixed from the previous movie, what still doesn't work, and whether this is finally the video game movie franchise fans have been waiting for.
Did Mortal Kombat II fix the franchise... Or is it still flawed?
