Episode notes
DVJ and Michelle start with a conversation about a DUI case, including the charges, license suspension, court costs, and the debate over how many consequences can come from one offense. That leads into a bigger conversation about punishment, parole, restitution, voting rights, and how the criminal justice system can continue affecting someone long after a sentence is over.
From there, the conversation takes a sharp turn into race, politics, media, and America.
They talk about Trump, CNN and political coverage, what politicians campaign on versus what people believe actually happens afterward, and why voters respond to political messaging the way they do.
The conversation also touches on racism, representation, voting patterns, the presidency, and the question of who has historically had the power to shape American politics.
And because this is Cold World, it doesn't stay serious the whole time. 😂 There's also plenty of sports talk, old-school sitcoms, Wisconsin Badgers, the Packers, Milwaukee, childhood memories, and random conversations that only DVJ and Michelle could turn into a podcast.
No script. No polished talking points. Just two people saying what they think and letting the conversation go wherever it goes.
