The Making of a 130km/h Quick - Steve Chimhamhiwa
Episode notes
Zimbabwean fast bowler Steve Chimhamhiwa joins the show to share his cricket journey that’s taken him from the ICC U19 World Cup to the competitive grounds of the Box Hill Reporter District Cricket Association in Melbourne. Bowling 130+ km/h thunderbolts in his prime, he is still a hardworking pace bowler at the local level while studying to become an engineer for the second time in a second country.
He talks through his early development as a junior cricketer in Zimbabwe, the coaches who shaped him, the challenges of pursuing cricket in his youth, and the move to Australia that reignited his passion for the game.
And yes—he tells the full story of his international debut including the dismissal of future Pakistan-Capitan Babar Azam.
Steve has an infectious laugh and shares a mix of cricket insight, migration experience, personal growth, and pure fast-bowling joy.
