Episode notes
Cannabis Emesis Syndrome — more formally known as Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) — is a paradoxical condition that affects some long-term, frequent cannabis users. Despite cannabis’s well-known anti-nausea properties, CHS causes repeated bouts of severe nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
🚨 Key Symptoms
- Persistent nausea, often worse in the morning
- Vomiting episodes that can occur up to 5 times an hour
- Abdominal pain and cramping
- Compulsive hot showers or baths — many patients find temporary relief this way
- Loss of appetite and weight loss
- Dehydration and electrolyte imbalance in severe cases
