028 - Change in Whitetail Theory | w/ Randy Birdsong and Joe Umphries
What does it really take to consistently get on big whitetails year after year? In this episode, we sit down with Randy Birdsong of HeadHunters TV and Joe Umphries of Big Tine—two longtime friends who have spent decades chasing mature bucks and learning what it takes to manage land and deer herds the right way. This conversation dives deep into whitetail land management, herd health, predator control, and the strategies serious deer hunters use to produce mature bucks consistently. Randy also breaks down his evolving “Change I Theory”—a mindset shift that has helped him stay on big deer season after season by adapting, spreading out, and avoiding the common mistakes that educate mature bucks. We also discuss how predator trapping can impact fawn recruitment, why food plots and habitat work matter more than most hunters realize, and what landowners can do to dramatically improve the quality of their deer herd. If you're serious about killing mature whitetails, improving your hunting property, and understanding how big deer actually behave, this episode is packed with hard-earned knowledge and real-world experience.

024 - Nine Finger Chronicles In The House! | Life Lessons, Social Media Can Suck, and Training Your Wife??
We decided to do a podcast with another podcaster and what a treat it was, with Dan Johnson! Dan has been doing this full time for quite a while now, and we had awesome conversations about life lessons in hunting, avoiding that dopamine hit from you phone in the woods, positives and negatives that social media plays in the hunting world today, and more! We even talked about our lovely wives and why they let us do what we do when it comes to hunting. Great stories, superb lessons, and some good laughs! So buckle up butter cup!
023 - Peak Adrenaline Rush w/ Matt Strahm
Most people know Matt from his time on the mound, but he has a deep passion and love for bow hunting mature whitetails too. After starting out being more of a duck hunter in his youth, he has transitioned more so to whitetails. Having a place in Kansas, he is no stranger to monster bucks and playing the chess match! We take a deep dive with Matt into the story of the Booner he harvested this year on his Kansas farm and the mental struggles it takes to play the chess match with one animal. We even dive into a little baseball with him and Graham Ashcraft to talk about the differences in the adrenaline rush between being on the mound in an MLB ballpark and having a mature whitetail in bow range. BONUS: We talk a little bit about his passion for collecting sports cards, and he and Graham talk a little bit about Elly De La Cruz. Sit back and enjoy the insiders scoop!
Saddle vs Lock On | Advantages and Disadvantages w/ Lucas Cagle of Hunter Safety Systems
It seems that the older people get, the more they get stuck in their ways, and deer hunters are no different. But with that being said, saddle hunting is here to change the way some of us hunt, no matter how stubborn we are about our lock on tree stands. This week we have a long discussion with Hunter Safety System's Lucas Cagle about saddle hunting and the advantages it provides over a tradition lock on. Yes both are great tool and both have their place, but as a mostly lock on hunter myself, I for one have seen that saddles can have their advantages in certain situations. Some of this was about challenging ourselves to accept new ways of hunting, and after taking the saddles out ourselves, we have seen the light in the situation. Enjoy!
The Art of Big Deer w/ Don Higgins
Look, we all love deer hunting and most of us are tantalized by giant bucks, but growing and singling out giant bucks is no easy feat. There is an art to it, and Don Higgins has become very good at that art! Whether it is building a property for big deer, how to hunt them, knowing key concepts in maximizing opportunities for success, or even managing your deer heard, Don has been doing it a long time and knows a lot about all of it. Join us as we dive into some of this info with Don!
020 - Splitting Hairs and The Red Moon w/ Adam Hays
HOT TAKE! Whitetails can sense the moon?! Adam Hays has a unique take on the moon and it just may change how you think about the moon and deer hunting. Yes, we know, there have been a lot of studies done about whitetails and the moon and the results suggest that the moon has no effect on deer. With that being said, as we discussed the topic with Adam, it is hard to argue with the way he describes the moon and its relation to whitetails. I mean, he does have a wall of giant deer to prove what he is saying. Is the moon the main contributing factor to a whitetail's day time movements, no. But it is one factor, and when it is added in with other factors like wind and weather, it sure does make sense. NOT ONLY THAT, but we talked with Adam about stacking the deck in your favor and splitting hairs to kill giant whitetails. You almost have to hunt the wrong wind for you in order to kill a giant sometimes?! So no more, we are listening intently! You don't want to miss this one! This is some great info from a man who has been hunting for 45 years and knocking down giants all along.
Permission Based Hunting and Scouting from Afar w/ Midwest Whitetail's Josh Sparks
Many of you know of Midwest Whitetail, which means you likely know who Josh Sparks is. Josh came up through the industry working with people like the Drury's and hunting himself on public and permission based properties. Thus, he has seen it all and he is proof you can consistently get on big deer without owning a bunch of land! The key is how do you find this ground to hunt? How do you keep it once you have? How do you scout these places efficiently when you live an hour or more away and can't be there every day to scout and keep an eye on deer? Well, we dive into all of this and much more with Josh! If you love hunting big deer and don't own land, then this is one you don't want to miss!
