Spirit of the Thunder People: The Life of Crazy Horse - Ep. 1
Episode notes
From the moment he touched his first coup to the day his name became legend, Crazy Horse stood apart—a warrior who fought not for glory, but for the very soul of his people. In this sweeping opening episode, Chronicles of the Old West takes you deep into the world that shaped him, beginning long before he was known as Crazy Horse, when he was simply a quiet boy called Curly Hair.
You’ll follow his journey from a buffalo-skin tipi along the Cheyenne River to the great treaty grounds of Fort Laramie, through family tragedy, sacred ceremonies, and the first sparks of a war that would engulf the Plains. Witness the grief that marked his childhood, the generosity that defined his character, and the early visions that whispered of a destiny he could not yet understand.
This episode brings to life the world of the Lakota at their height—its virtues, its dangers, its alliances, and its unraveling. Through battles, betrayals, and the gathering storm of American expansion, you’ll see how a boy forged by loss and guided by spirit began the long path toward becoming the greatest warrior of the northern plains.
A legend was not born. He was made.
