By the end of May, an estimated 8 million people have been displaced within the country, and as of November 8, 2022, 7.8 million Ukrainians have fled the country. The number of Russians leaving the country increased to its highest level since the October Revolution of 1917 within just five weeks after the invasion. The invasion has also contributed to widespread shortages of food around the world.
