Jay Quinn played Division I baseball, coached at Columbia, and worked inside Major League Baseball. He had built a life, a working business, a home in New York City. Then he looked at what actually happens to Dominican baseball talent, and he couldn't unsee it.

Most kids chasing the MLB dream in the Dominican Republic never make it past their team's academy. They're released around 19 or 20, no degree, no fallback, no plan B. The system takes everything and gives almost nothing back if the dream doesn't land.

Jay walked away from his life in New York to fix that. Today, through the Baseball Island Foundation in Las Terrenas, he gives kids free, professional-level training, on one condition: they stay in school. In year one  ...
