Burned Ambition - “I’ma Big Fish Not a Guppy“™️© - with Fatimah Bee

Fatimah Bee @busybumblebee_ was born and raised in New York City. She is the youngest of 10 children. Ms. Bee is a Substance-abuse Intervention Prevention Counselor. She graduated from York College with a Bachelors of Science degree in Community Health Education. Fatimah is an aspiring author and is in the process of writing her first children’s book series. She has worked in education for half of her life. Her love for working with the youth began with her first job at age 16 as a culinary arts instructor for a non-profit organization. At the age of 18 she had an opportunity to work as a summer camp counselor, it was this experience that allowed her to realize just how important instilling certain values in youth can make a world of difference. Fatimah says, "As an educator you realize how impressionable a young mind is. Being an educator you see first hand the issues that occur with children." When she was younger she was born with a speech impediment. She remembers how it affected her socially and emotionally throughout childhood. Being unable to read a page aloud in class because she stuttered through all the words not because she wasn't capable of reading, but because she was so nervous and impacted by her speech difficulties. Her parents and siblings equipped her with the “Big fish mindset”. She is the CEO and Founder of “ I'ma Big Fish Not A Guppy. “ The phrase is a mindset and a lifestyle. It's a way of thinking and living. A big fish is any person that no matter how many times people or a situation try to bring them down, they continue to thrive. Being a big fish is a mindset, knowing that you don’t belong in a pond you can’t fit in. You belong in the ocean where the possibilities of your life are endless. She is passionate about motivating and empowering the youth and helping underprivileged families. For all the people who told you, you aren’t capable … Keep swimming. For all the people who made you feel like you aren’t worthy …. Keep swimming. For those who laughed at your idea……… Keep swimming. For those times you feel like giving up … Keep swimming. #burnsurvivor #overcomer #survivor Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/burned-ambition-with-burned-beauty-2018/donations

Burn & Domestic Violence Survivor- Paris Taylor

Paris Taylor is an activist both for domestic violence survivor’s rights AND burn survivor strength and recovery. She’s a baaaddddd woman that has overcome BOTH and I, personally, draw great strength and comfort from her. Her story is amazing, uplifting, infuriating and inspiring. Please enjoy and please protect yourself by leaving any abusive situation. 😘 Key facts Violence against women – particularly intimate partner violence and sexual violence – is a major public health problem and a violation of women's human rights. Estimates published by WHO indicate that globally about 1 in 3 (30%) of women worldwide have been subjected to either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime. Most of this violence is intimate partner violence. Worldwide, almost one third (27%) of women aged 15-49 years who have been in a relationship report that they have been subjected to some form of physical and/or sexual violence by their intimate partner. Violence can negatively affect women’s physical, mental, sexual, and reproductive health, and may increase the risk of acquiring HIV in some settings. #burnsurvivor #domesticviolencr #survivor Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/burned-ambition-with-burned-beauty-2018/donations

Ugandan Acid Attack Survivor - Ruboha Kirungi Linneti - Part Two

We are back with Ruboha Kirungi Linneti this week - Ugandan Acid Attack Survivor and Activist - for the second part of her story. You can support her efforts by visiting www.hocram.org or www.risecoalition.com and either signing her petition for action by the Ugandan government (20,000 signatures would be a good start!), donating directly to the cause or purchasing beautiful woven art made by the survivors themselves. I’m working towards all of the above. $5.99 USD is a significant donation. #burnsurvivors #acidattack Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/burned-ambition-with-burned-beauty-2018/donations
