Season 3
Letting Go Without Giving Up!
What does surrender actually look like? In this episode, John and Terry have an honest conversation about learning to let go without giving up. They talk about the pressure of feeling responsible for everyone around you, the desire to make yourself valuable and needed, and how difficult it can be to surrender control when you've spent years learning to depend on yourself. They also explore how our past shapes us without having to define us, and how two people can experience similar circumstances and still choose very different paths. One of the biggest realizations in the conversation is that facing the same struggle doesn't mean you're starting over. Sometimes you're simply facing it from a different place because you've grown. And maybe that's part of what following Jesus looks like—not finally arriving at a place where we have everything figured out, but learning over and over again to trust God with the journey. Letting go doesn't mean giving up. Sometimes it's learning to trust God enough to keep going. Join John and Terry for another honest, sometimes funny, and always imperfect conversation about faith, life, relationships, and growth. Who Holds Your Arms Up!
Life has a way of wearing us down. Sometimes this world will truly grind you into dust, and there are moments when you simply don't have the strength to keep your arms up. So who holds them up? In this episode of the Bumper Sticker Wisdom Podcast, we talk about the importance of community, friendship, church, and having people in our lives who are willing to stand beside us when we're struggling. We look at the story of Moses, Aaron, and Hur in Exodus 17 and what it teaches us about supporting one another. Moses couldn't keep his arms raised forever. When he became tired, Aaron and Hur came alongside him and held his arms up. Maybe that's what community is supposed to look like. Not people who have everything figured out. Not people who are always strong. Just people willing to stand with each other when the battle gets heavy. We also talk about how God has been changing our perspective on church and community, what it means to be there for the people around us, and why success isn't always about how many people you reach. Sometimes helping just one person is enough. Because all of us will eventually have a moment when we can't hold our arms up anymore. The question is: Who will be there to hold yours up? 🎙️ Bumper Sticker Wisdom Podcast A conversation about faith, life, and growth, hosted by two friends who are learning as they go. Honest conversations. Real life. Faith without the pretense. Because we believe in presenting a perfect man in a not-so-perfect way.
