Season 1
#059 Funcle
The other day my girlfriend and I took my niece out for pizza, ice cream, and a trip to the park. It wasn’t a big event, just a simple after-birthday celebration and a chance to spend some one-on-one time with her. In this episode I talk about why moments like that matter. The days go by fast, and the little ones in our lives won’t stay little forever. One day she’ll be grown, living her own life, maybe with kids of her own. If taking the time to create a simple day of fun gives her one golden memory she can look back on someday when life gets hard, then I’ve done my job as a proud funcle. Sometimes the smallest moments are the ones that last the longest. Brown Overboard hosted by Josh Bam Bam Brown New Episodes every WED & SUN at 6pm PT / 9pm ET Subscribe and let's go Overboard!
#039 Starting Over Again, and Again, and Again…
In this episode, I talk about losing everything you own and having to start over. For me, that isn’t a metaphor. It’s been a way of life. I’ve lost everything more than once, and I know it will probably happen again at some point. Over time, you learn what really matters and what doesn’t. I reflect on why stuff is just stuff, and why time, health, and the people we love are the only things that truly hold value. I also share the story of when the family home my dad built by hand burned down when I was a kid, and what that loss taught me about resilience, perspective, and starting over. This episode is about letting go, rebuilding, and understanding what’s worth carrying forward when everything else is gone. Even if that means you don’t own a pair of shoes. #038 - Why We Say More
In this episode, I talk about loss, and about the one truth we all have to face, life is finite. It might not seem like it now, but sooner or later everything ends. I reflect on what it means to lose someone, the weight of unspoken words, and the importance of letting the people in your life know that you care about them while you still can. Because you never truly know if the last time you say goodbye will be the last time. No one knows when that final goodbye will come. But one day, that door closes, and once it closes it never opens again. This is a quiet, reflective episode about love, loss, and choosing to embrace life. #037 - Holding the Line
In this episode, I talk about mental health, for those who struggle themselves, and for those who care about someone who does. I share some thoughts on how complicated it can be to try to help, to support, and to hold space for people you love when they’re hurting. I also talk about something that isn’t easy to say out loud: that sometimes, letting go is necessary and that it doesn’t mean you don’t care. It doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It doesn't mean you're a bad person. Sometimes it’s the healthiest choice you can make for yourself and for them. This episode is about compassion, boundaries, and understanding that you can care deeply without carrying everything on your shoulders. #036 - Rockwell Christmas
In this episode, I talk about Christmas and share memories from past holidays growing up on boats, deep in the forest, and surrounded by family. I reflect on what Christmas felt like back then, how it compares to now, and the moments that still stand out years later. I also talk about how my dad always tried to give us the perfect Rockwell Christmas. Looking back, I’m not sure he ever realized that he succeeded. Every Christmas we had, no matter the setting, the imperfections, or what else was going on, truly was a Rockwell Christmas because of the love, care, and magic we shared as a family. Those moments shaped my childhood and made the holidays something I’ll always carry with me. I share stories about spending Christmas in unexpected places, including a memorable trip to Aspen, something my mom and dad had always wanted to do. This episode is about family, gratitude, and the kind of Christmas magic that stays with you long after the season ends. #035 - Be Who You Want to Love
In this episode, I talk about relationships and why some of them end, even when two people genuinely care for each other. I break down how easy it is to start taking someone for granted without ever realizing it, how the little things fade, routines take over, and we forget to appreciate what we have until it’s gone. I share the way I see it: the best relationship advice is the same advice I have for being a good person. Be the partner you would want. Show up the way you wish someone would show up for you. Pay attention to how your person moves through the world, what they need, and who they’re trying to become. And above all, never forget what it means to have someone in your life, not if you truly care for them. #034 - Living the Journey
In this episode, I talk about how much I love to travel and the role it’s played throughout my life. I share memories of growing up on boats in Southeast Alaska, exploring remote islands, and living a life where the ocean was our highway. Now, in the lower 48, the open road has become that same kind of freedom. I’ve crossed America multiple times and had the chance to explore places like New York City, Moab, Sedona, and White Sands. I also talk about traveling with my family, our trip to Hawaii, driving the Road to Hana, and the story behind one of my most prized possessions. This episode is all about movement, exploration, and what it means to truly live the journey. #033 - Life and Times of Reality TV
Life and Times of Reality TV | Brown Overboard - #033 In this episode, I talk about what it was really like having our lives filmed and how we adjusted to the cameras becoming part of our everyday world. #032 - Stay Strong
In this episode, I talk about the importance of physical fitness and how staying active has shaped my life. Growing up in the bush meant I didn’t have a choice, survival required strength, but over time, working out became something I genuinely loved. I reflect on how movement, in any form, can improve every part of your life, and how even small, consistent actions add up. You don’t have to train like an athlete; you just have to keep moving forward. And I share a piece of wisdom my dad always told us: “It’s not how much you lift, it’s how many times you lift it.” A reminder that discipline, effort, and consistency matter more than anything else. #031 - Thanks Giving
In this special Thanksgiving episode, I take a moment to slow down and talk about gratitude, family, and what this holiday has always meant to my family. From memories of past Thanksgivings to the small blessings we sometimes overlook. This one is all about taking stock of the good in our lives. The food, the family and the love. it's about reminding ourselves to slowdown and take each opportunity we have to say thank you to the ones who make each day spacial. It’s a short, honest conversation straight from the heart, a reminder that no matter where you are or what you’re going through, there is always something worth being thankful for.
