Lower Back Injury Rehab of a Powerlifter ft. MSc. Thomas Mulder

The first episode of BrainGainz is a talk with colleague and friend Thomas Mulder, MSc. Physio + Manual Therapist from PhysioLab Amsterdam, where I interned at in 2019. He was the one physiotherapist I trusted with and who guided me through the successful rehabilitation of my disc bulge over the last 6 months and who helped me from not being able to sit to being back on the platform. Over the course of the rehab we had many interested conversations and learnings, which we thought are worth sharing. In this episode we talk about: How to find the right physio for you. Movement based assessment What role does imaging (MRI) play during the assessment? How did Thomas's rehab differ from what you learn at physio school? The role of core training for lower back rehab Triggers + resilience The bank account analogy Defining progress in pain and rehab How to deal with a relapse (as a physio and as an athlete) Should everyone squat “to depth”? What to do if you're not "built for it"? Butt wink? Dangerous yes/no? You can find Thomas on instagram (https://www.instagram.com/thomas.mulder.physio/) or contact him via email for online consulations.
