Jane Schoenbrun’s growing catalogue of nostalgia-drenched, hyper-meta horror films has a new entry, this time attempting to reframe the placement of the queer body in the ‘final girl’ slasher film. Narrating dynamics of desire and awakening, Schoenbrun reconciles with the parts of their identity which have been informed by texts they now consider problematic.
