What Is The Book of Mormon?
Additional Episodes will be available at this Podcasts official launch Early 2027! Follow on Facebook For updates! The Book of Mormon is a sacred text published in 1830 by Joseph Smith that presents itself as an ancient record of peoples connected to Israel who lived in the ancient Americas, culminating in a post-resurrection appearance of Jesus Christ. Latter-day Saints accept it as divinely revealed scripture and a second witness of Jesus Christ alongside the Bible. The most important thing about the book itself is that its ultimate message is not really about ancient America—it is about Jesus Christ. The book argues that God has never abandoned humanity. God spoke to ancient Israel. God spoke to prophets in the Americas. God sent Jesus Christ to redeem humanity. Christ appeared to people beyond Jerusalem. God continued speaking after biblical times. God preserved another witness of Christ. And God continues to invite individuals to seek Him personally. That creates a theological chain: Revelation → Covenant → Christ → Atonement → Resurrection → Gathering → Restoration The Book of Mormon is essentially the narrative embodiment of that chain.
