Conviction Without Condemnation
Romans 14:1–12
How do we treat one another when we disagree?
In Romans 14, Paul addresses a very real problem in the early church: believers who had different convictions about food, special days and religious practice. Some felt free to eat anything; others, because of their conscience and background, chose to eat only vegetables. Some considered particular days sacred; others regarded every day alike.
Paul's response is surprisingly challenging: don't condemn one another, don't look down on one another, and don't turn your personal convictions into weapons against your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Paul reminds us that the person we disagree with is not our servant. They are God's servant. And if God has accepted them, who are we to reject ...
