Job wants his pain written down because he feels misunderstood, but even there he holds on to one thing: his Redeemer lives. The psalm asks God not to hide his face. Then Jesus sends people out without much backup and tells them to carry peace into the places that receive them. I like plans, tools, and enough margin to handle trouble. Those are good things. But these readings remind me that security can’t come only from what I packed before I left. Sometimes faithfulness means moving forward with what God has actually given me, doing the work in front of me, and trusting that his presence isn’t measured by how comfortable the assignment feels. Courage is easier when I remember I’m not traveling alone.
