Beyond the Temple Walls to a Greater Community

As Christians, we are not meant to be alone; we are part of the family of believers. We are a flock. We are a community. Peter encourages us to have more in common with each other. We are to show love to each other. We are to be hospitable. We are to serve one another with the gifts God has given us.

Beyond Temple Walls to a Greater Responsibility

Being part of the church, or being a Christian, is more than just coming to church once a week or only a few times a year. We are to contasntly be in God's Word and constantly living out what the Word tells us. The church is more that just a building but it is about people, the people whom Jesus loved, saved, and died for.

Forgive as You Have Been Forgiven

God's forgiveness is limitless. He forgives our huge debt of sin. Our forgiveness is to reflect the forgiveness of God. We have been shown mercy; we show mercy to others. This is hard: to reflect the forgiveness and mercy of God. We can ask God to give us the strength to forgive as we have been forgiven.

Spiritual Care

When we see a fellow Christian caught in sin, we are to care about them. Jesus tells us to go and show them their sin. We do this to lead them towards repentance and back to God. We use the law to expose sin and then the gospel to heal. This shows that we care about their spiritual well-being and that we are our brother's keeper.

What are you waiting for?

As Christians, we are called to pick up our cross and follow Jesus. That means we will be experiencing suffering in this life. Suffering defines our present. But glory defines the future. The glory that will be revealed when Christ returns can't compare to the present sufferings. Let's keep our focus on coming glory while we pick up our crosses and follow Jesus.

What must I do to be Saved?

Every single person at some point in their life has to wrestle with this question or at least wrestle with who Jesus is. Both of those questions are similar. We don't have to do anything for our salvation because Christ did it all for us already. He lived the perfect life we can't. He took the punishment for sin. He rose from the dead, conquering death. This is what is revealed to us about Jesus in God's Word. It is with that Word that God creates faith in the heart, the faith that saves.

True Wisdom: Christ Crucified

Our faith is not founded on human wisdom. Rather, it rests on God's wisdom. The wisdom of God is the gospel, and it is the cross. The cross is a place that look weak but it is the power of God.

God For Us

We all face doubts in our lives. Even people like Elijah and Peter faced doubts. It is how we respond to doubts. We don't have to respond to doubts with fear. We respond to doubts with faith because God is for us. That means no one is against us and nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Grace Before Time

When things get difficult on this earth is is easy to think or wonder if anyone cares about us. The Apostle Paul reminds us that God cares about us. Paul points us to God choosing us in eternity to be his chosen people. He cared about us before we even existed and loved us. That's the grace of God.

You Won the Lottery

Gaining more wealth on this earth is always a temptation. Jesus and the Apostle Paul tell us that we are already rich. We have a treasure in heaven. We did nothing to deserve this treasure. Jesus won it for us on the cross, and it is ours by faith.
