Appeal of VT and NH Water Quality Certifications for Hydropower Facilities

In a recent action to help fight for clean water standards in Vermont and New Hampshire, five nonprofits filed for an appeal of the Clean Water Act’s Water Quality Certification in order to prevent VT and NH from issuing licenses to hydropower facilities allowing for discharge into public waters. Kathy Urffer and Marilla Harris-Vincent of the Connecticut River Conservancy dropped by the BCTV Studio to discuss.

What’s New with SYNC? 5/7/25

SYNC – Supporting Young Neurodiverse Children and Caregivers – is a community-driven initiative designed for families and caregivers of children age 0–5 years old on the Autism Spectrum (or suspected of). Hosted by The Root Social Justice Center in collaboration with Early Education Services, Early Childhood Special Education of Windham Southeast Supervisory Union and Springfield Area Parent Child Center, SYNC provides tailored support to help you navigate the challenges and celebrate the triumphs of raising a child with ASD in Windham County. Join host Johnny Gifford as he chats and discovers more about the program with Adriana Negrón and Brandy Levesque from the Root Social Justice Center. Center for Solace 4/9/25

Staff and volunteers from the Center for Solace (fka Brattleboro Area Hospice) joined BCTV Executive Director Johnny Gifford in the studio to talk about their services, programs, and an upcoming event at the Brooks Memorial Library on April 16th. The event will mainly focus on their Advance Directive Program, which is a process of creating a written healthcare plan that tells others what you would want if you couldn’t tell them yourself.
