All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury https://www.libraryofshortstories.com/storiespdf/all-summer-in-a-day.pdf This was the short story that made me realize how much monstrous behavior can happen from pure thoughtlessness. It also cemented that perhaps I was not cut out to have children and should seek cats instead. I hope both sides of everyone's pillows are pleasantly cool!
