That bitter chill you're feeling? It's the real deal. The Interior bottomed out at minus 31 degrees overnight. Wind chills plunged to minus 47 around 5 A.M. That's the kind of cold that bites through any jacket in seconds. Fairbanks climbs all the way to 1 degrees this afternoon under sunny skies. A remarkable 32-degree swing from dawn to mid-afternoon.
In the next 24 hours. Down in Southcentral, it's cold but more manageable. Anchorage sits at minus 5 degrees early this morning. You'll reach 17 degrees by late afternoon. Snow moves in after 9 A.M. — just a chance, nothing heavy yet.
