Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Alaska Weather Podcast — it's Monday, February 23rd. Alaska's about to put on a three-ring circus today.. And you're gonna want a front-row seat for this one. Down in Southcentral, you're waking up to 20 degrees and gray skies. Feels calm now, but don't be fooled. Snow crashes the party tonight between 9 P.M. And 2 A.M., peaking right around midnight. Lows drop to 16 degrees by 2 A.M., but here's the kicker — winds flip from northeast to north around 6 P.M., making it feel closer to 8 degrees. Dress warmly if you're out late. Tomorrow brings a high of 29 degrees with light snow before noon, then temperatures nosedive to 9 degrees Tuesday night with gusts hitting 25 miles an hour. Now let's head up to the Interior.. Where winter just remembered it's supposed to be brutal. Snow's already dumping hard — 5 to 9 inches today, another 3 to 7 inches tonight. Highs struggle to 26 degrees, but the real headline? Tonight's low plummets to minus 25 by Tuesday morning. Wind chills make it feel even worse. By Wednesday, you're looking at a high of minus 17. That's the kind of cold where your breath freezes mid-sentence. Meanwhile, Southeast Alaska got the memo about wind. Skagway's under a Wind Advisory until 6 A.M. With gusts to 45 miles an hour — the kind that'll rearrange your yard furniture. Light snow moves in after 9 P.M., staying under an inch. Highs hit 30 degrees today, but Tuesday ramps up with 2 to 4 inches of snow and rain mixing in along the coast. Looking ahead, the Interior and Southcentral lock into Arctic air — highs barely above zero, lows hitting minus 30 in spots. Southeast rides the rollercoaster with snow, rain, then cold by Thursday. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
