Madison Williams '20

This month, Ashley Marcinkus '20 interviews Madison Williams '20. In the episode, Madison details how her experience reporting on Augustana sports with the Augustana Observer led to her current writing position with Sports Illustrated. Williams fondly reminisces on her experience at Augie, mentioning her family connection to the Quad Cities and Rock Island’s best restaurants: Harris Pizza and Arthur’s Deli. When asked how her Augustana experience empowered her to meet the world’s greatest needs, Madison responded by referencing a recent article she had written about the minority of women in sports journalism. Her article, titled “Barbie, Former NFL Coach Jen Welter Team Up to Show Career Opportunities in Sports,” demonstrates the importance of inclusion in traditionally male-dominated roles. She expressed that everyone, no matter their background, deserves to follow their passions and career goals. Andrew Brimeyer '15

This month, Alex Mayszak '13 interviews Andrew Brimeyer '15, who started his own nonprofit running club in Denver called Denver Urban XC, which is on a mission to make the sport of running more equitable and inclusive for students of color in Colorado. Find out how Andrew's time at Augie inspired Denver Urban XC and how the running club teamed up with HOKA to bring awareness to their work. "Augie for me was more than I imagined in that it helped transform me into the person that I am today and helped inform what kind of work I wanted to do in this world — work that wasn't just about getting a paycheck, but was about trying trying to do something to make my corner of the world just a little bit better."

Anna Tegge ‘18 and Leo Nguyen ‘18

Now they both live in Washington, D.C., and work in public policy - Anna for Lockheed Martin and Leo for the Coalition on Human Needs.
