Episode notes
Today. we begin a new section in the Book of Proverbs, starting with chapter 25. I refer to my English Standard Version Study Bible about this new section in Proverbs. “The present form of the book of Proverbs came into existence, at earliest, in the reign of Hezekiah (reigned in 715-686 B.C.) Hezekiah is credited with reviving Judah’s religious traditions A new, expanded edition of Solomonic proverbs was apparently part of the revival” (p. 1178). What the footnote is saying is, “These (Proverbs 25-29) also are the proverbs of Solomon which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied” (v. 1). Yet, these next five Proverbs are different than the first twenty-four we looked at.
