Matthew 19:13-15 People bring children to Jesus for blessing, but disciples rebuke them until Jesus intervenes. Jesus welcomes children, stating the kingdom belongs to such as these. Mark 10:13-16 Disciples hinder parents bringing children, but Jesus indignantly calls for them to come. He teaches that one must receive the kingdom like a child to enter it. Luke 18:15-17 People bring infants for Jesus to touch, disciples interfere, but Jesus insists on welcoming them. Jesus declares the kingdom of God belongs to those with childlike faith.

Joshua renews the covenant by reading the law on Mounts Ebal and Gerizim. Mark 10:32-34 Jesus leads toward Jerusalem, again foretelling His betrayal, condemnation, death, and resurrection. The disciples are amazed and afraid as they follow. Luke 18:31-34 Jesus privately tells the twelve of coming events in Jerusalem including betrayal and rising on third day. The disciples do not understand the words, which are hidden from them. Matthew 20:20-28 The mother of James and John requests places of honor for her sons in the kingdom. Jesus teaches that greatness means serving others, modeling His own sacrificial life.
