Chronological Reading of the Bible - Day 281 - October 8, 2026
Episode notes
This is part of a year long reading of the Bible chronologically in a harmonized format.
Isaiah 40:1 - 42:25
- God tells His people to be comforted as a voice calls out to prepare the way for the LORD, and though people wither like grass, the word of our God stands forever, and the incomparable Creator gives new strength to those who trust in Him so they soar high on wings like eagles.
- The LORD tells Israel His chosen servant, "Don't be afraid, for I am with you," challenges the idols to predict the future, and presents His Servant who will not crush the weakest reed but will bring justice and be a light to guide the nations, while Israel stays blind and deaf and is handed over to plunder because of its sin.
Acts 22:22 - 23:11
- When Paul mentions being sent to the Gentiles, the crowd shouts that he isn't fit to live, and the commander orders him whipped and questioned, but Paul asks if it is legal to whip a Roman citizen who has not been tried, and the commander becomes afraid on learning Paul was born a citizen.
- Before the high council, the high priest Ananias orders Paul struck on the mouth, then Paul divides the Pharisees and Sadducees by saying he is on trial because of his hope in the resurrection of the dead, and that night the Lord appears to him and says, "Be encouraged, Paul. Just as you have been a witness to me here in Jerusalem, you must preach the Good News in Rome as well."
