2 Chronicles 28:1-27

- Ahaz did not do what was right. He made idols, burned his sons, and closed the doors of the house of the Lord.

- Judah is struck and plundered. In distress Ahaz becomes still more faithless, not less.

2 Kings 16:1 - 17:41

- Ahaz copies the altar of Damascus and strips the temple for Assyria's favor.

- Israel is carried away for idolatry. Samaria is resettled, and a mixed worship of the Lord and other gods remains.

Romans 8:18-39

- Present suffering is not worth comparing with the glory to be revealed. Creation waits for the revealing of the sons of God.

- Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus — not tribulation, persecution, or any created thing.
