Episode notes
Who gave us the authority to decide what is in another person’s heart?
Hebrews 3 gives the Church a serious warning—but the warning isn’t to spend our lives examining everyone else. It is to make sure that our own hearts do not become hardened through unbelief and the deceitfulness of sin.
Moses was faithful. The prophets were faithful. The apostles were faithful. Pastors, teachers, and ministers can be faithful. But they are still servants.
There is only One who is truly great: JESUS.
In this message from Hebrews 3, Pastor Brent teaches about the danger of exalting men, judging motives, habitual sin, unbelief, and allowing our hearts to become hardened toward God.
We’ll look at the difference between biblical discernment and condemnation, Jesus’ parable of the wheat and weeds, Paul’s warning in 1 Corinthians 4, and the powerful warning of Hebrews 3:
“Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”
You may recognize someone’s actions. You may recognize fruit. You may need to hold someone accountable.
But God sees what we cannot see: the heart.
So instead of asking God to expose everybody else, what happens when we pray:
“Lord, search MY heart.”
Sin can be attractive. Unbelief can become distrust. Distrust can become rebellion. And repeated sin can slowly harden a heart that once responded quickly to God.
But Hebrews gives us an urgent word:
TODAY.
Today you can hear His voice. Today you can repent. Today you can reconcile with Jesus. Today you can trust Him again.
You don’t know their heart—but God knows yours.
