4th and Whatever
Season 1
2. What Would You Tell a First Year Coach and What School Did NOT Teach US
by Coach Evans and Coach Woodard
We’re talking about what we wish we knew in year one of coaching—beyond the playbook. From identity struggles to leadership lessons school didn’t teach us, this episode is a crash course in what it really takes to coach and stay sane. For the new coaches, the burnt-out vets, and anyone trying to lead people in real life. Merch: https://onsha.us/collections/4th-and-whatever Sponsors: www.onsha.us www.flatlandyouthfund.org
In our debut episode, we talk about why we coach—like really coach. Not just the X’s and O’s, but the purpose behind the grind. The calling, the chaos, the character it demands. And somehow, somewhere in the middle of all that, the Pope shows up in the convo. Yeah… that Pope. From Texas high school sidelines to locker room life lessons, this one’s for the coaches who feel more like mentors, the athletes chasing something deeper, and anybody who’s ever wondered why we keep showing up when it’d be easier to tap out.
