A reflection on Israel, 12 months on and a rambling rant on Progressive Christianity

G'day and God bless, everyone. In our latest episode, we'll take a quick look at the latest headlines, I’ll get a few things off my chest with regard to inconsistent beliefs and perspectives in the Church about big, topical issues and we’ll finish with a reflection and prayer about God’s eternal love for Israel. Disclaimers: The Holy Bible is my one source of Truth and all beliefs I have are based on God's infallible Word. I do go on a bit in parts, so please feel free to scroll through my ramble. I'm still learning how to podcast professionally and mature spiritually in equal measure :) Apologies for the tech glitches in a couple of segments. If a T-shirt says that 'nobody's coming to save us', does that make it true?

G'day friends! Amidst the maelstrom of incoming information lately, has been the emergence of a really worrying trend among non-believers who truly believe that ‘nobody is coming to save them’ and are so convinced of this, that they’re urging others to believe the same. And this clarion call is getting louder. We'll cover this, some of the emerging headlines and continue our reading through The Book of Psalms and The ACTS of the Apostles on today's podcast. Ted Lasso, Friends and LEGO: a troubling trend towards self and Satan

G'day friends! Have you ever had a Christian song play over and over on repeat in your head? A couple of months ago, ‘Almost Home’ played on loop in my mind throughout each day and it provided such comfort during especially intense times. Lately, ‘Great is thy faithfulness’ has been the first thought and song in my head as I’ve woken up each morning and it follows me deep into my morning walk as I listen to yet another of Charles Stanley’s sage sermons. Each song is a message of hope and of not being abandoned by our Heavenly Father. Today, as we step into Season Two of the Withstand Podcast, we’ll take a closer look at some others things that have been playing on repeat in my mind over the break – including my concern over the new tagline for a much-loved and long-standing toy brand. All that and more, is coming up today on our Withstand Podcast. RESOURCE: www.allenjackson.com CONTACT US: withstandpod@gmail.com Instagram - @withstandpod God bless, guys.

WSD | Latest headlines and a spotlight on bold Christian Leaders

Hello friends! With so much happening at breakneck speed across the globe right now, who do you trust to present and analyse these events through the prism of the Holy Bible? Who are the Christian Leaders who you look to, to provide a clear, calm voice against the backdrop of chaos and direct you toward sound doctrine during these days of deception? Over the past couple of years, I’ve felt the Holy Spirit drawing me away from Gossip Magazines and TV shows, Movies and Music in general that are either quite blatantly entrenched in predictive programming or their themes are just plain fruity. To fill that void, the Holy Spirit has guided me toward Christian content by Bible-believing Christians and their sermons, social media content, books, et al. At first the (happy) overwhelm was real, but over time, I started to pray for discernment and would unfollow any accounts that quickly revealed themselves to be, for example, Progressive Christians. I’d hit that unfollow button quicker than a Church-goer heads to the front of the line for a barista-made coffee after the service. If you know, you know… So today, I’m going to shine a light on some of these people, many of whom I’m sure you’ve already heard of. We’ll also take a look at some of the most recent headlines and continue our bible reading. That’s all coming up on today’s Withstand Daily Podcast, our final podcast before we take a brief hiatus. WSD | A raw chat about depression and scripture that will help when you're in the depths of it

G'day friends! During my walk with my darling boofhead Labrador, Misha this morning, I felt myself feeling gripped by fatigue, lethargy and I’ll be honest, irritability. And so as I walked, I prayed that God would reveal to me why I was feeling fatigued, lethargic and irritable (the latter of which seems to be a common thread through my last couple of podcasts). While I’m not spiritually exhausted, I am finding it a little difficult to concentrate and fully immerse myself in my Bible reading and the wonderful Christian content that I watch and listen to on a regular basis. And so as my dog immersed herself in the sights and smells of our neighbourhood, I prayed fervently that God would reveal to me why I’ve been feeling overwhelmed, exhausted and super sketchy with my overall mood. I mean, not being able to easily remove my phone from my pocket or even the sound of a neighbour tooting their horn as they reverse their car out of their driveaway is enough to propel me close to the edge. It’s all just sitting beneath the surface and try as I might, I sometimes fail to pray or exercise (not exorcise – you can forget that palaver) or sleep the feelings away. When I got home, I briefly opened X and the first post I saw was from a gentleman who lives in Thailand and who does an enormous amount of work to rescue abused dogs on the streets of Thailand. He wrote candidly about the depression and irritability that has gripped him over the past week or so. Almost every single point in his thread resonated for me and I was so grateful that God led me to his post. I’ll talk about it a little more later in the podcast and leave you with some short scriptures that are currently helping me through my own depression and irritability – which more often than not, go hand in glove. Today, as always, we’ll take a look at some of the most recent headlines and continue our bible reading. That’s all coming up on today’s Withstand Daily Podcast. WSD | A posture of patience while we wait upon God

Hello friends! In his book, Mere Christianity, CS Lewis wrote, “I am sure that God keeps no one waiting unless He sees that it is good for him to wait,”. He goes on to say, “but you must regard it as waiting, not as camping. You must keep on praying for light.” As I reflected on yesterday’s podcast, where I spoke about this challenging season of despair and anger that I find myself in, a series of concentric circles that holds a mirror up to the tribulations facing the world, the local community and my own little bubble, the word ‘impatience’ kept weighing on my heart. It spoke to this desire for everything from wanting my Dad’s health to improve all the way up to waiting on the Rapture and God’s Will being done on earth as it is in Heaven. But as CS Lewis notes, if God is keeping me, you, us waiting, then it’s clear that He sees it good for us to wait. But it’s an active wait, that in addition to praying for light, should probably also involve praying for godly productivity; a posture of being salt and light, which could mean using our impatience, our despair, even our anger for fuel that furthers the Kingdom of God with the time we have left here on earth. We’ll take a look at what that looks like from a practical point of view in a future podcast. Today, as always, we’ll take a look at some of the most recent headlines and reflect on waiting on God. That’s all coming up on today’s Withstand Daily Podcast. WSD | When you're close to breaking point and God feels a million miles away

G'day and God bless, friends. I’m not sure where you’re at on your faith journey right now. You may be a curious agnostic or a staunch atheist. You might believe in something or someone, but you haven’t quite worked out what that something is, or who that someone might be. You might be taking baby steps forward and giant steps back. You may even be someone who has a strong faith, but circumstances have shaken that faith to its core. I’m here to tell you that you’re not alone and I too have felt variations of all of the above over the journey. While I believe that God is real and I believe that God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life, I also believe that the wrestle is real; it’s an arm wrestle that at times can be felt in the depths of our soul I’m in the middle of a season that’s lasted over two years and while I’ve been taking each day as it comes and each new shock to the system as it comes, this past week has really worn me down. I’ve been really, really angry, I’ve felt very little hope and to be quite honest, God’s never felt as far away as He does right now. I’ll tell you a little more about this season and share some resources that I’ll be using to help soften my heart, re-establish my hope and draw me closer to God; and I pray that they might help you too, should you be feeling overwhelmed or angry or wonder where God is in all of this! Today, as always, we’ll take a look at some of the most recent headlines and reflect on how to pray when you’re angry or distressed. That’s all coming up on today’s Withstand Daily Podcast. WSW | Christianity and Paganism - Why Two Things Cannot Be True

G’day and God bless, fellow Withstanders and welcome back to our Withstand Weekly Podcast for Friday 23rd of August 2024. Our podcast exists to share resources, tips, musings and most importantly, scripture with fellow Christians and curious Agnostics who crave direction through these days of deception. We might be a little amateur hour in our output, but our subject matter happens to be best-in-class in all things, so we take great comfort in that. Coming up on this week’s show, we’ll take a closer look at how pagan practices seem to have ramped up over the past few years - with some examples that may surprise you; we'll confess our "can’t stand its" of the week and finish in prayer that we pray will set you up to withstand spiritual warfare as we walk into the weekend. WSD | Reflecting on Actor Tim Allen's reflection on God's Word

G'day and God bless fellow Withstanders, While the secular world focuses on their own version of joy and many are placing their trust in governments, brands and individuals (and we all know where that’s all heading...), I’ve noticed a significant increase in the number of godly, awake and courageous Pastors and Christian leaders who are imploring all of us who strive to be godly, are definitely awake and trying to be more courageous to immerse ourselves in God’s word in these last days. We’re called to test all things – including their sermons and musings – against scripture. We’re strongly encouraged to spend less time focussed on transforming our wardrobes, our homes; even our faces and spend more time being transformed by God’s living Word. It’s a call-to-arms to dwell more and more in the Word, rather than cling to the things of this world. I am guilty as charged here!! I’m a female living in this world who desperately wants to care less and less about the clothes I wear, the make-up I put on my face, even the colour palette for my home. It takes up way too much real estate, but I tell myself that it’s a nice break from the intensity of current events; both in my family and across the world. But I struggle most days with this and if you’re doing the same, I can completely relate. I pray that the reflection at this end of this podcast will help both of us 😊 Today, as always, we’ll take a look at some of the most recent headlines, pay tribute to sports journalist Sam Landsberger, reflect on the transformative power of God’s Word and I’ll tell you about the celebrity post that triggered the theme for today’s podcast. That’s all coming up on today’s Withstand Daily Podcast. WSD | Why Kamala's definition of joy is laughable

G'day and God bless, fellow Withstanders, Every day, I’m fortunate enough to start my day with a morning walk. And every day without fail, I listen to a sermon from Dr Charles Stanley – whichever sermon InTouch Ministries has served that day. I typically complement this with one or more podcasts from Jack Hibbs, or the Watchman River or Olive Tree Ministries or even the guys from TriggerNometry among many others. I curate my listening time to learn from erudite, articulate podcasters who more often than not, are also fellow Christians. During this morning’s walk, I was reminded by both the Steve Deace Show and the Now The End Begins podcast that the narrative for the Democratic Party’s campaigning has switched to a focus on "Joy". It seems that the party is working overtime on messaging that presents Kamala Harris as bringing back their version of joy in direct opposition with Donald Trump’s so-called dark and dour approach to his campaigning thus far. Now, why should I and fellow Christians who live in the Western World and more specifically, Australia, care about what’s happening in the United States? Well, despite us living on two separate continents, you’d hope and pray that we as true Christians would be on the same page with respect to what true joy really is. And it ain’t what this happy, clappy, clan is offering. And if this cackling joyluck club gets in, in November, it’ll be yet another reason to be believe that we’re living in Babylon. But you already knew that, eh? Today, on our pocket-sized podcast, we’ll take a look at some of today’s headlines and reflect on the only joy that we need, and that’s God’s joy.
