Let's Find Some Treasure

In this light-hearted but curiosity-fueled episode of Waywut, Darrell digs up the truth behind real-life treasure stories hiding in plain sight across the United States. These aren't myths or movie plots—these are actual historical treasure hunts that might still pay off today.

🧭 You’ll hear about:

• The Beale Ciphers: Three coded messages from the 1800s allegedly leading to a fortune buried in Virginia. Only one has ever been solved—using the Declaration of Independence.
• Jesse James’ hidden loot in Oklahoma: Snowed-in in the Keechi Hills, his gang buried Mexican gold, and not all of it was recovered.
• The Spanish Treasure Cave in Arkansas: Believed to contain $40 million in gold stashed away by conquistadors—and never fully explored.
• The Mosby Treasure: Confederate gold and heirlooms buried in Virginia and marked with Xs between two pine trees. Spoiler: the soldiers sent to retrieve it didn’t make it.
• Sam Bass, the infamous Texas outlaw who likely stashed cash and gold near Denton, Mineral Wells, and Round Rock.

Plus: rants about antique shows, useless baseball card investments, 1990s collectible fumbles, and why Darrell considers vintage Playboys the currency of the apocalypse.

Whether you’re here for history, humor, or just hoping to hit it big with a metal detector, this episode is your map to lost American legends.
