Jesus says to the Sadducees, "Ye go astray, not knowing the writings, nor the power of God"

This is a judgment which could fall on all of us.

We need to know the writings, the Scriptures, with long and faithful study, and meditate on them and seek to understand with the help of the Holy Spirit, and we also need to seek to know the power of God. Then we will not go astray, we will not get things wrong in our understanding of the Scriptures and the power of God.

The Sadducees did not believe that there will be the rising again . Jesus proves from the Scriptures that there is, for God is not the God of the dead but of the living. He is not the God of the dead Abraham, or the dead Isaac, or the dead Jacob. That would be a senseless, pointless, macabre, sinister person to be. But God is God of the living. Alleluia!
