Stagione 1

[ENG] Maya Nguyen from Uncommon VT in Essex, Vermont

Our guest today is Maya Nguyen. Maya is the founder of Uncommon VT, a coffeeshop and roaster based in Essex, VT. We have followed Maya's career from afar, and have been inspired and encouraged by her journey to be becoming a champion for specialty Robusta. She brought Robusta to the world stage in the US Barista Championships, and ever since has advocated for more equity in this topic of "what we call quality." We're excited for you to hear her perspective!

[ENG] Cait Rifkin from Snake River Roasting Company in Jackson, Wyoming

Our guest today is Cait Rifkin. We met Cait as she was doing some recording of HER podcast, Tiny Sidecar, at last year's WPCS. She was so great at connecting with others with curiosity, we were inspired by her immediately! She's definitely one of the inspirations for our own podcast series, and we were curious to ask her about her own perspective as a green buyer for Snake River Roasting Company. We're excited for you to hear her perspective on connection, career trajectories, and passion as a force for change.

[ENG] Dana Hughes from Uncommon VT in Essex, Vermont

Our guest today is Dana Hughes. Dana is the Head Roaster for Uncommon VT, and we were connected with her after our amazing conversation with Maya Nguyen. We were so intrigued by their approach to education and the coffee industry because of their work with Robusta that we had to ask if Dana wanted to speak with us to share her roaster's point of view. We're grateful that she said yes, and we hope you enjoy this conversation!

[ENG] Ruth Ann Church from Artisan Coffee Imports in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Our guest today is Ruth Ann Church, founder of Artisan Coffee Imports. Ruth Ann is one of our OG inspirations, Amaris and I have each been buying coffee from Artisan for years - we really value her commitment to traceability, equity, and transparency. We have learned so much about gender equity in coffee from her, and this conversation with her was so good that it ended up being a little longer than usual, but it's so good! We hope you enjoy!

[ENG] Mika Thomas from Joe Coffee Company in NYC

Our guest today is a very special connection of mine, my dear coworker Mika! Mika is the most brilliant coffee educator, her role at Joe Coffee is Barista Trainer. She teaches so many different people - our own teams of baristas, our wholesale clients, the public. She has an amazing talent of meeting people where they are, and balancing their understanding of quality with inclusive education. I'm looking forward to this conversation and getting the oppotunity to highlight her amazing expertise and skillset!

[ENG] Takeaways from Season 01!

In this bonus episode, we talk about our takeaways and what we enjoyed throughout the conversations in the series. We share a lot of verbal exclamation points about how amazed we are at the experience and insights of our guests! We also ruminate on key learnings and the future of the podcast. Thank you for listening!
