Overview & Mechanism Sertraline is an oral selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) primarily indicated for major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social anxiety disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Its therapeutic effect results from selective serotonin reuptake blockade at the neuronal membrane, which directly increases serotonin availability and neural transmission.

Administration Guidelines Sertraline may be administered without regard to meals. Capsules must be swallowed whole.
