Above and Beyond

In Richmond in the early 2000s, Samuel used his own personal car to bring a celebrity client through a theater's back door so he could enjoy one ordinary movie night; the client later sent a gift Samuel still keeps in his home more than twenty years later. The episode builds on Matthew 5:41 and Colossians 3:23: the first mile is obligation, the second mile is worship, and service that exceeds the contract plants seeds you harvest for years (Proverbs 11:25, Galatians 6:9). Leaders learn loyalty is earned by the second mile, not bought with raises, with four habits: listen for the request behind the request, use what you have, serve as unto the Lord without expecting thanks, and keep monuments of past harvests.
