Why Isn't The Scale Moving Even When I'm Doing Everything Right?
You’ve been eating consistently, getting your protein and fiber, moving your body, strength training, and then you step on the scale and somehow you’re UP 2 or 3 pounds. What gives? In this episode of the Nourished Mamas Podcast, I’m breaking down why the number on the scale can change even when you’re doing everything “right", and why a sudden increase doesn’t automatically mean you’ve gained body fat. We’ll talk about: Normal day-to-day weight fluctuations Sodium, carbohydrates and water retention How your menstrual cycle can affect the scale Why a hard workout may temporarily increase your weight Digestion, travel, sleep and routine changes What it can mean when your weight is truly plateaued over time Other ways to measure progress when the scale isn't moving I’m also sharing what I learned during my own months-long plateau, including one part of my evening routine I eventually realized was probably keeping me from being in a calorie deficit. Because the scale gives you data, not a grade. If you’re feeling stuck and aren't sure what to focus on next, take my Personalized Weight Loss Roadmap Quiz to get a starting point based on your current season.
How Do I Stay Motivated to Lose Weight?
How do you stay motivated to lose weight when motivation keeps disappearing? The answer might be that you stop relying on motivation altogether. In this episode, I’m sharing how I’ve used simple systems and habit stacking to make healthy habits easier to maintain—even when I don’t feel like doing them. We’ll talk about the nighttime routine I built from one tiny habit, a ridiculously simple solution one of my clients found for actually eating lunch, and how to create routines that make it easier to get back on track when real life happens. We’ll cover: Why motivation naturally comes and goes How to attach a new habit to something you already do Why you shouldn't try to change everything at once How to make healthy habits easier and more automatic Why getting off track doesn't mean starting over Plus, I’ll share how to get started with my free 5-Day Routine Reset Challenge if you want help putting this into practice.
Why Am I So Hungry While Breastfeeding?
If you've been breastfeeding and feel like you're hungry all the time, you're not imagining it. Many new moms are surprised by just how much their appetite changes after having a baby. Between making milk, recovering from pregnancy and birth, and running on less sleep than you're used to, your body has a lot going on. In this episode, we're talking about why breastfeeding can increase hunger, what makes that hunger feel even more intense, and practical ways to nourish yourself without feeling like you're constantly fighting your appetite. In This Episode, You'll Learn: Why breastfeeding often increases your appetite How sleep deprivation can make hunger even stronger Why skipping meals usually makes hunger harder to manage The role of protein, fiber, and balanced meals in staying satisfied Easy nutrition strategies for busy moms who don't have time for elaborate meals How to support your weight loss goals without ignoring your body's needs Ready for Your Next Step? Am I Eating Too Little on My GLP-1?
One of the biggest surprises women experience on a GLP-1 medication isn't always the weight loss—it's realizing they can get halfway through the day before remembering they haven't really eaten. If you've ever looked at the clock, realized it's mid-afternoon, and thought, "I guess I should probably eat something," this episode is for you. We'll talk about why under-eating happens so easily on GLP-1 medications, how to recognize the signs that your body isn't getting enough fuel, and practical strategies to help you nourish yourself even when hunger isn't giving you the same signals it used to. Because while GLP-1 medications can be an incredibly helpful tool, the goal isn't to see how little you can eat. It's to build eating habits that support your health, energy, muscle, and long-term success. In This Episode, You'll Learn: Why it's so easy to accidentally under-eat on a GLP-1 Common signs that your body may not be getting enough nutrition Why protein, hydration, and muscle preservation matter during weight loss Practical ways to eat when your appetite is low Simple strategies for building consistency without relying on hunger cues How to work with your medication instead of unintentionally under-fueling yourself Ready for Your Next Step? Do I Need a Special Diet for Perimenopause?
If you've found yourself wondering whether you need to give up gluten, cut carbs, or follow a "hormone-balancing diet" now that you're in your late 30s or 40s, you're not alone. Many women feel blindsided by the changes that come with perimenopause. Weight starts shifting, sleep isn't the same, energy changes, and suddenly the internet is full of conflicting advice about what you should and shouldn't eat. In this episode, we're cutting through the noise. We'll talk about what actually changes during perimenopause, what deserves your attention, and why you probably don't need a completely different way of eating to support your health. In This Episode, You'll Learn: Why so many women feel blindsided by perimenopause The biggest myths behind "hormone-balancing diets" Why more food rules usually aren't the answer The nutrition habits that matter most during this season How to approach weight loss without falling into the restriction cycle Why consistency is still more powerful than chasing the latest trend Ready for Your Next Step? Why Am I Doing Everything Right and Still Not Losing Weight?
Have you ever looked at your week and thought, "I'm doing everything right... so why isn't the scale moving?" You're eating healthier, trying to hit your protein, drinking more water, getting your workouts in, and making an effort to stay consistent. Then you step on the scale and... nothing. In this episode, we're unpacking one of the most common frustrations I hear from women trying to lose weight. We'll talk about what a true plateau actually looks like, why weight doesn't always change in a straight line, and how to troubleshoot what's really going on before assuming you need to eat less or work out more. Because when progress stalls, the answer usually isn't to try harder. It's to take a closer look at what's actually happening. In This Episode, You'll Learn: How to tell the difference between a normal weight fluctuation and a true plateau Why "doing everything right" isn't always as straightforward as it sounds The common patterns that quietly slow progress Why constantly changing your plan makes it harder to know what's working The "boring basics" I look at first with clients Why eating less isn't automatically the answer When it's time to get another set of eyes on your nutrition and habits Ready for Your Next Step? If you're not sure where to start, take the Personalized Weight Loss Roadmap Quiz to receive a roadmap based on your goals, current season of life, and biggest challenges. Why Healthy Habits Never Seem to Stick

In this episode, we're talking about why motivation isn't enough to create lasting change and why so many women find themselves stuck in the cycle of starting over. We'll dive into the role identity plays in your habits, why your brain naturally gravitates toward what's familiar, and how the story you tell yourself can either keep you stuck or help you move forward. If you've ever found yourself thinking, "I just can't stick with anything," this episode is for you. In this episode, you'll learn: Why motivation always fades and why that's completely normal How your brain prefers familiar habits, even when they aren't serving you The connection between identity and long-term behavior change Why lasting weight loss isn't about willpower A simple mindset shift that can help you stop starting over Ready for your next step? Postpartum Fat Loss is NOT a Math Equation
Postpartum fat loss is not a math equation. If it were just calories in vs. calories out… this wouldn’t feel so hard. Most moms already know what they should be doing—but knowing isn’t the problem. In this episode, we’re breaking down why fat loss feels so inconsistent in postpartum life—and what actually needs to shift to make progress feel easier (and more sustainable). Because the issue isn’t that you’re not trying. It’s that you don’t have a system that works in real life. We’ll talk about: Why the “eat less, move more” approach falls apart in motherhood The real reason consistency feels so hard (hint: it’s not lack of discipline) How decision fatigue and under-eating are holding you back What actually creates results without tracking everything or starting over every week And most importantly—how to simplify your nutrition so you can actually follow through. Because it’s not about doing more. It’s about making it easier to be consistent. Want Help Making This Easier?
