Was there really a “Great Apostasy” after the apostles?
In this opening episode of Season 2, we begin investigating one of the biggest questions in Christian history: Did the original Christian faith gradually change after the apostles died?
Rather than starting with a conclusion, we start with the evidence. What happened to Christianity in the generations after the apostles? What did early Christians believe, teach, and practice? And if Christianity truly experienced a major departure from its original faith, what would we expect the historical record to show?
Throughout this season, we’ll explore the writings of early Christians, examine their beliefs and disagreements, and follow the historical evidence as we ask what changed, what remained, and why.
The goal isn't to tell you what to believe. It’s to investigate the story for ourselves.
Because before we can decide whether there was a Great Apostasy, we first need to understand what actually happened.
