AFTER THE AMEN | A Conversation on Serving

This week at Cornerstone Ministries we had “UnCommon Weekend”, where instead of meeting for regular church services, our congregation went out into the community and served different homes and businesses to share the love of Jesus Christ in tangible ways. KEY MOMENTS At 4:41, Pastor Paul and Pastor Brandon kick off the conversation by discussing what UnCommon weekend means about our church. They follow this by discussing what the mission of a weekend like this is. At 10:10, Pastor Brandon asks a question regarding why loving God and loving people should not be separated, and what happens when we separate them. At 15:00, they talk through the difference between serving someone to get something in return versus serving for no gain. At 20:09, Pastor Brandon asks, “how does scripture challenge the idea that some acts of service are more important than others?” At 24:59, the conversation continues with the topic of guarding against serving people without genuinely caring for them. At 26:45, they give practical steps on what to do now that UnCommon is over and how to live this mindset out. At 18:40, Pastor Brandon and Pastor Paul talk through how to continue “about the king’s business” even when it doesn’t make any sense. Pastor Paul includes 11 practical steps for people to continue about their days in the unknown. At 32:03, Pastor Brandon brings up the sermon point, “The evil gets a season, but God holds the calendar.” And asks how that truth has personally encouraged Pastor Paul during seasons when evil or suffering seem to be winning. WEEKLY FOLOW-UP | The Ancient of Days

This weekend in our summer series, Unseen War: Spiritual Realities Behind World Events, we talked through Daniel 7, and an overview of the second half of Daniel. To follow up after the weekend messages, Rachel Fernandez sits down with Pastor Brandon Vieth to talk about the weekend message, After the Amen. KEY MOMENTS At 6:35, Pastor Brandon continues to briefly unpack the vision Daniel sees in chapter 7. At 9:28, they turn to a more practical look of the vision in Daniel 7. At 13:53, Pastor Brandon goes a practical step deeper by explaining how we can actively change the way we think in order to look up. At 19:23, the conversation turns towards looking at how to have hope in Jesus when life feels so uncertain. At 28:11, Rachel brings back up Deuteronomy 29:29, they talk through why it is just so common to want to spend time decoding prophecy instead of deepening our trust in the God who gave it. At 32:21, the discussion closes with some signs that we have been more focused on the beast rather than the throne.
