Good evening. Hawaii. I'm Michael Mosby. Folks, we've got a serious situation unfolding today. A powerful Kona low is anchored northwest of the state, absolutely pummeling us with a wild mix of hazards. We're talking dangerous flash flooding, damaging winds. And even winter storm conditions on the Big Island summits. The ground is already saturated after nearly 3 inches of rain in the last day. And it simply can't take any more water. As the sun sets. Here's the breakdown. A narrow but intense rainband is stalling between Oahu and Maui County this afternoon, meaning rainfall totals are going to jump quickly. Down on Oahu. Here comes a high near 80 degrees under cloudy skies. But it's windy, with southwest winds around 28 miles an hour and gusts up to 40. Thunderstorms are likely this afternoon, producing heavy rain, tonight, the rain risk continue ...
