Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Hawaii Weather Podcast — it's Sunday, February 22nd. And folks, we just lived through a weather plot twist.
Yesterday's storm barely left a trace — two-hundredths of an inch of rain. But overnight? Hana got hammered with three to four inches per hour. Meanwhile, the Big Island summits woke up to snow. Yes, snow in Hawaii. Winter Weather Advisories expire at 6 A.M., but slick roads and freezing fog could hang around through sunrise up there.
That upper-level trough is finally lifting north. Oahu starts with scattered showers and thunderstorms before noon, then partly sunny skies take over. You'll hit 80 degrees with light west-northwest winds shifting around 8 A.M. Over on Maui, thunderstorms roll in right at sunrise, then you're looking at 81 degrees — though temps drop to 75 by afternoon as winds ...
