Psalm 22 John 3:16 Isaiah 53 Philippians 2:8-9 John 19 Crucifixions were the worst form of punishment to exist. It was meant to be as slow and excruciating as possible. It was entertainment to the Romans. They loved every moment of it. It was disgusting, inhuman and torturous. Crucifixions were done publicly and people were crucified naked to enhance the humiliation. The crucifixion was hours and hours of agony. Crucifixions were done on Golgotha. Look into the church of the holy sepulcher. The method of torture of the crucifixion being flogged. The Romans would use a flagrum. It was a brutal weapon used to tear flesh and severely bruise muscle. It was an instrument of torture created by the Romans. Meant to cause as much pain as possible. The physical trauma was so bad that it would cause shock, unconsciousness and even death. Jesus would have had pieces of his beard ripped off and a crown of thorns piercing his head.
