Note sull'episodio

Hello!

Have you ever tried to carry every grocery bag into the house in one trip? There could be fourteen bags, a watermelon, a case of water, and a package of toilet paper, but something inside us says: “I am NOT making two trips.” So we hook bags over every finger, balance something under one arm, kick the car door shut with one foot, and waddle toward the house looking like a department store mannequin caught in a windstorm. Then one bag breaks. Usually, the one with the eggs. Some days, friends, you just need to put everything down and have some coffee!

Today on Cager’s Coffee Break, our featured coffee is Classic Jazz, with those wonderful hazelnut and chocolate notes that make a cup feel smooth, comforting, and just a little indulgent. And today’s coffee fact is all about roasting. Did you know green coffee beans don't look much like the rich brown coffee beans we recognize? Coffee typically arrives at the roaster as what is called green coffee. Roasting transforms those beans through heat, producing many of the aromas and flavors we associate with coffee. The United States imports most of its coffee as green coffee before it is roasted, packaged, and distributed. During roasting, the beans undergo dramatic physical and chemical changes. They change color, lose moisture, expand, and develop those familiar coffee aromas. That means the roasting process isn't simply about making a bean brown. It's a carefully controlled transformation. And there’s something about that idea I like. Sometimes life applies a little heat to us too. Plans change. The car needs repairs. The washing machine decides to retire without giving two weeks' notice. You open the electric bill and suddenly feel the need to sit down. Yet some of life's difficult seasons can teach us patience, gratitude, perseverance, and even how to laugh at things that once would have ruined our entire day. So when things get a little hectic, make yourself a cup of Classic Jazz and slow the rhythm down. And next time you’re unloading groceries? Make two trips. Your eggs will thank you.

Thanks for spending this little coffee break with me...and remember keep brewing kindness one cup at a time.
