In this episode of Scripture Road: Life’s Journey, we slow down and focus on one of the most powerful moments in the book of Isaiah: Isaiah’s vision of the Lord in chapter 6. Isaiah sees the Lord “high and lifted up,” surrounded by seraphim crying, “Holy, holy, holy.” Faced with the holiness of God, Isaiah immediately becomes aware of his own sin and cries out, “Woe is me!” But the story does not end with guilt. A live coal from the altar touches his lips, symbolizing cleansing and forgiveness. Then comes the call: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Isaiah answers with the words that have inspired believers for generations: “Here am I; send me.” In this episode, we explore the meaning behind Isaiah’s vision, the seraphim, the coal from the altar, Isaiah’s calling, and the difficult mission God gives him. We also compare passages from the King James Version and World English Bible and discuss what this chapter teaches us about holiness, repentance, forgiveness, and answering God’s call. In this episode of Scripture Road: Life’s Journey, we continue our journey through Isaiah with chapters 3 through 5. These chapters bring some of Isaiah’s strongest warnings yet. We see what happens when a society turns away from God, when leadership breaks down, when pride takes over, and when people begin calling evil good and good evil. In Isaiah 3, we look at the coming judgment on Judah and Jerusalem and the consequences of corrupt leadership and selfishness. In chapter 4, the tone shifts as Isaiah points toward cleansing, restoration, and the hope of God’s presence among His people. Then in chapter 5, we explore the powerful Song of the Vineyard, where God compares Israel to a vineyard He carefully planted and cared for—only to find that it produced bad fruit. We’ll slow down throughout the episode, compare passages from the King James Version and World English Bible, explain the historical setting, and talk about what these warnings mean for us today. In this episode, we explore the powerful lessons found in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah. After years of exile, God’s people returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple, restore their worship, and rebuild the walls of the city. Through opposition, discouragement, and challenges, they learned the importance of trusting God’s promises, staying focused on His mission, and relying on prayer and His Word. Ezra and Nehemiah remind us that true restoration begins when we return to God. Whether rebuilding our faith, our families, or our lives, God can use ordinary people who are willing to follow Him with courage and commitment.
Imagine two kings standing at crossroads. Asa began by trusting God against an army of a million, but later trusted political alliances more than the Lord. Uzziah started as a humble teenager seeking God, yet success filled him with pride. In contrast, Jehoshaphat, when surrounded by enemies, admitted, "We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You," and Hezekiah called a broken nation back to joyful worship. These stories remind us that faith is not measured by how we start, but by whether we continue to rely on God. The Lord delights in humble hearts that seek Him, worship Him, and trust Him—even when the odds seem impossible.
