S2, Episode 1. Anne (Grief, Palliative care & the loss of your mum and life partner).

Anne Hueppauff, a former teacher and school leader turned counsellor, has been deeply impacted by cancer, having tragically lost both her mother and husband. Growing up in a close-knit regional town where her father worked as a General Practitioner, Anne gained a unique understanding of life plus healthcare and its importance. Only a couple of years after losing her Mother, her husband had a devastating accident on her property. Through his recovery process, they found out he had Cancer. Through her experiences, Anne has discovered the significance of hope and the crucial role of protective support systems. She has learned to seek support when managing the challenges of being a caregiver. As their caregiver, Anne took great pride in fulfilling her husband's wish to spend his final moments at home. While cancer brought feelings of helplessness and lack of control, Anne found newfound strength and reevaluated her priorities. Grief became a profound part of her journey, leading her to assist others in processing their own suffering. The grieving process, especially after losing her beloved husband, has been complex and arduous. With her family's unwavering support and inner resilience, Anne has embarked on a new chapter in her life, using her experiences to guide and support others. Her profound journey demonstrates the power of love, hope, and the transformative nature of grief. I'm so glad we crossed paths Anne, you're a beautiful soul and inspiration to so many. Episode 10. Cassandra Catsoulis (Losing your No. 1, Ice Tea, Breast Cancer & Second Opinions)

For our last Episode of Season One, were joined by Cassandra Catsoulis. This Episode is remarkable, it is such an honour to be able to share and document Cass's journey about losing her Mother to Cancer. We recorded this episode at the end of 2021 and it was incredibly raw and difficult, for herself, her family and the hundreds of people who her Mum had touched. I understand this journey wouldn't get any easier, Cass hopes that this episode will help many people who might be in the same predicament. Cass's Mum passed away in 2019 after a long and off, seven-year journey with Breast Cancer. Throughout that time, Cass's mum received Surgery, Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy and Inhibitor drugs. Within this episode we discuss the importance of second and third opinions, checking yourself, vulnerability, the ongoing effects of losing your best friends and the long grieving journey ahead of Cass. Episode 9. Ft. Cate Shaw (Breast Cancer, the power of music and being 1/8)

For Episode 9 of cancer Culture. Actor and Musician, Cate Shaw join us. Cate is the first person I have come across whose family has been struck down by cancer. In this episode, we discuss how five of eight immediate family members have faced the hardships of Cancer. Cate is incredibly positive and present within this world & her illness. We talk about performing a sold-out show, only a day after receiving a harsh breast cancer diagnosis. Cate's hope and resilience are evident within this episode & her lust for life and living it to the fullest shines as bright as she does. Episode 8 Ft. Gary Power (Big Warm Hands, Sailing & a Little Black Box)

Gary Power was diagnosed with Head and Neck Cancer when he was 51. Gary's treatment was broad. He received Chemotherapy and Radiation throughout this period of life. Gary is currently 67 and is a proud local to the Grange, Brisbane. Within this episode, we talk about sitting in the rubble, coping mechanisms, “the block box” and bringing up a young family through this tough time. We focus on the positive side of dissociating and unpack how truly scary a new diagnosis can be. Gary really opens up about his mental health throughout his journey and touches on the anxiety (still to this day) that is associated with reoccurrence and cancer itself. Gary continues to help others consistently; he visits the local hospital and provides support where necessary. I personally believe he's beyond special & I am so grateful I had the chance to connect with one of my closest friends Dad, in this unique way. The next 50 minutes are a massive testament to the man, father, intellect and special human that he is.
