Gary Power was diagnosed with Head and Neck Cancer when he was 51. Gary's treatment was broad. He received Chemotherapy and Radiation throughout this period of life. Gary is currently 67 and is a proud local to the Grange, Brisbane. Within this episode, we talk about sitting in the rubble, coping mechanisms, “the block box” and bringing up a young family through this tough time. We focus on the positive side of dissociating and unpack how truly scary a new diagnosis can be.
Gary really opens up about his mental health throughout his journey and touches on the anxiety (still to this day) that is associated with reoccurrence and cancer itself. Gary continues to help others consistently; he visits the local hospital and provides support where necessary.
