In this episode, Pastor David takes us back to 1924, when Congress proposed a constitutional amendment that still remains technically pending before the states — the Child Labor Amendment.

At the turn of the 20th century, millions of children worked long hours in mills, mines, factories, and farms. Reformers exposed dangerous conditions, low wages, and the exploitation of children as young as eight or nine. Congress tried twice to regulate child labor through ordinary legislation, but the Supreme Court struck down both attempts — first in Hammer v. Dagenhart (1918) and again in Bailey v. Drexel Furniture Co. (1922).
