Breaking overnight at Virginia State University: five people shot outside the residence halls in Chesterfield County, one in critical condition. The lockdown has been lifted, but the investigation is just beginning.
Virginia State University students and staff woke up to the news of gunfire on campus just after 1:28 a.m. Saturday. Chesterfield County Police, working with VSU campus police, the ATF, and the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, report five victims suffering gunshot wounds near the dorms. All five were transported to area hospitals. Four sustained non-life-threatening injuries. One remains in critical condition.
