In this important program, Master Sergeant (Retired) Dave Smith takes us through his two Improvised Explosive Device (IED) experiences in riveting fashion.

In the first attack in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan in 2006, he was hurt. In the second, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2010, on a second tour, he suffered grievous wounds.

He describes the importance of the pre-mission training he directed to his eventual survival. His teammates saved his and his friend's lives.

We follow him from initial wounds through stabilization, medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) and treatment in the battle area, in country,
