Rare Disease Day was established in 2008 and is celebrate on February 28th, unless February has 29 days, in which case it is celebrated on February 29th, making it ultra rare. According to the rarediseaseday.org website, "Is the globally-coordinated movement on rare diseases, working towards equity in social opportunity, healthcare, and access to diagnosis and therapies for people living with a rare disease."
